Standards changes feed
Plain-language notes on AS/NZS revisions, NCC amendments and state regulator updates. Each entry says what changed, how it shows up on a job, and whether Standardsmate™ has re-indexed the relevant clauses.
NSW Fair Trading has confirmed the digital Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) requirement begins enforcement July 2026. From that date, paper certificates are not accepted for residential and commercial electrical work in NSW. The portal accepts XML lodgement and PDF receipts.
On the job
Existing paper-based CCEW workflows will not be accepted in NSW from July 2026. Standardsmate generates the digital lodgement file alongside a printable PDF for the client.
A consolidated amendment to the Wiring Rules is in public review covering RCD coverage in residential premises, supply equipotential bonding rules in bathrooms, and clarifications to clause 2.5 regarding short-circuit protection coordination. Public comment period closes mid-2026.
On the job
No immediate change to compliant work. Once published, the chat answers and SWMS templates referencing clause 2.5 will pull the updated text automatically.
The 2025 edition of the National Construction Code lifts minimum thermal performance for Class 2–9 buildings. Glazing, insulation and HVAC efficiency thresholds step up from the 2022 edition. State adoption is staggered through 2026 with Victoria and NSW first.
On the job
Quotes drafted on Standardsmate now reference the 2025 thresholds when the project address resolves to a state that has adopted. Older 2022 quotes remain accessible but are flagged.
A minor revision to AS/NZS 3008.1.1 adjusts conductor temperature derating factors for cable groups installed in conduit. The change tightens factors for groups of four or more circuits at high ambient (40 °C+).
On the job
The cable size calculator now uses the revised factors. Cable selections sized in earlier sessions for hot-ambient installs may show a one-step-up recommendation on re-run.
Safe Work Australia issued revised guidance on SWMS content for confined space entry, emphasising rescue plan documentation, atmospheric monitoring schedule, and competency evidence for the standby person. State WHS regulators are aligning guidance through Q2 2026.
On the job
The SWMS generator now prompts for rescue plan and atmospheric monitoring schedule on any confined space template. Existing draft SWMS will pick up the new prompts on next edit.
